Description: The original totem pole was commissioned under Chief Patrick Michell. During the 1965–66 realignment of Highway 16, the Ministry of Transportation cut down the pole and left it to decay under the Right of Way rule. Stellat’en First Nation is recreating and resurrecting the totem pole at its original location, where it will be visible to travelers crossing the bridge. This placement restores a cultural landmark.
