VICTORIA — The Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund Society has received $165,000 to begin delivering programs under its business plan, Premier Dan Miller, minister responsible for northern development, said today.
Nearly 60 people turned out in the last 2 weeks to hear more about the Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund Society and its new grant programs.

VICTORIA-A bill to establish the B.C./Alcan Northern Development Fund to promote sustainable economic development in northwestern B.C. has been approved by the legislature and now awaits royal assent.
The Government of B.C. and Alcan Inc. each contributed $7.5 million to establish the Northern Development Fund in 1999. The investment income generated from this fund supports the NKDF grants program. Each partner has one representative serving on the board of directors. The NKDF is part of the portfolio of the Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology.
